Winning in 2025: Self-Love, Wealth, and the Power of Preparation

As we step into February 2025, I found myself reflecting on what this month’s blog should be about. What message do I want to send? What direction should we take? February always brings Black History Month to mind, but I truly believe Black history should be celebrated 365 days a year. And of course, February is also synonymous with love. But more than romantic love, I think we’re in an era where self-love is needed the most.

Speaking of self-love, I spent an entire Sunday watching Bar Rescue—don’t judge me! I get so happy seeing people win, and that’s the essence of who I am. I love to see people win. It fuels me. Beyond my children, whom I naturally root for every day, I want to see everyone around me thrive. But here’s the catch—people have to see their own strengths first. Just like in parenting, we may envision goals for our children, but they ultimately have to discover what brings them joy and fulfillment.

This desire to see people win carries over into my industry as well. When clients reach out to me, their goal is typically to buy or sell a home. But in today’s economic climate, many are afraid. Afraid to invest. Afraid to spend. Afraid of the unknown. And I get it. Our leadership, our economy—it’s uncertain. But if I’m being honest, there’s no better time than now to prepare for your win, whatever that looks like for you. Buying a house? Starting a business? Paying for college? Planning for retirement? Now is the time to set the foundation.

Even though I don’t make a dime from the preparation phase of homeownership, I genuinely want to help people start from square one. I want to hand-hold, guide, and empower you to reach that end goal. If I could help people win in every aspect of life, I would—but my expertise lies in homeownership, so that’s where I focus.

That brings me to an important question: How many people who truly need guidance are willing to break themselves down enough to admit it? And, more specifically, how many women? Because let’s be honest—women are the ones always helping everyone else but rarely helping themselves. We’re the warriors, the caretakers, the multitaskers. But when do we stop and ask: What about me?

So let’s talk about winning for ourselves. Buying a home—solo or with a partner. Investing in property. Purchasing land. Creating passive income through rental properties or Airbnb. Thinking beyond the norm. It all starts with square one.

Lately, I’ve been reading You Deserve to Be Rich by the founders of Earn Your Leisure, and let me tell you—some of the points hit hard. Even when you think you know something, sometimes you need to step back, refocus, and sharpen your knowledge. Now isn’t the time to prove to others that you can buy this or afford that. Now is the time to prove to yourself that you can buckle down and get the job done.
